1997, and Haji Baba starting his new career as a dressage horse.  This was back when our top dressage riders were muttering:  "Why on earth is she bothering with THAT?" (when I was far enough away not to hear - of course!)  This is a small town - word always gets back to the person you are talking about, and I hope we've shown them why I bothered!!
